30 December 2016, arrival in Cape Town

We are now installed in our hotel room at the Park Inn by Radisson, Cape Town Foreshore. Our Edelweiss flight from Zurich arrived more or less on time after a short delay in Zurich for de-icing. Here it's a mild 25 degrees. Our driver with a shuttle bus met us at the airport after a delay in disembarking. We checked in but had to wait in the bar for our room to be ready. Just time to sample a glass or two of South African Sauvignon Blanc, or Chenin Blanc in Richard's case. The view of Table Mountain from our room is partly obscured by a large ugly building. We asked for a double bed not twin, and hope that will be rectified later.

After an 11 hour flight we felt very tired and needed a rest before exploring.

Later. We went out to explore the neighbourhood. We found Bree Street, with many interesting restaurants. First we stopped at Charango Pisco Bar and had a beer. We shared a beef taco. Then we headed back but stopped at Thirty Ate where Richard had steak and I had a salad and a glass of Pinotage. On the way back we took photos of Table Mountain, trying to avoid the buildings blocking the view.

At our hotel we had a Shiraz at Harald's Bar on the 11th floor. We saw sunset over Table Mountain. Beautiful.
